Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
LEARN Academy’s® Emotional Disability program employs a meticulously structured PositiveBehavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system, seamlessly integrated with therapeutic support provided within the school environment. Our approach is grounded in research-driven academic instruction. Here’s how we achieve this balance:
- Personal Responsibility: We empower students to take ownership of their actions and choices.
- Flexible Thinking: Encouraging adaptability and open-mindedness, we foster creative problem-solving.
- Social and Emotional Regulation Skills: Students learn to navigate emotions, build resilience, and maintain healthy relationships.
- Self-Advocacy: We equip students with the tools to express their needs effectively.
- Academic Focus: Simultaneously, we uphold rigorous academic standards, ensuring a holistic educational experience.
Together, these elements create a supportive environment where students thrive academically and emotionally.
Our PBIS programs and its integrity are maintained by the following elements:
- Common Language
- Level System
- Data-Based Decision Making
- Positive Reinforcement
- Cognitive Restructuring
- Individualized Behavior Interventions
- Consistency
Social Communication Program
TheSocial Communication Program aims to enhance the quality of life and learning outcomes, for students, by providing tailored access to the social environment. We approach both academic instruction and social-pragmatic development through a highly structured integrated model of targeted skill development. The program structure is rooted in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, Theory of Mind, and Social Thinking Theory, which provide the framework for intervention and growth.
This specialized learning environment helps students grow to become flourishing members of our multicultural society by emphasizing social relations, self-regulation, and adaptive behavior skills
FACS (Functional, Academic, Communication, and Social Skills)

We target:
- integrated skill development in academics,
- cognition,
- motor,

- and social skills.
WAVES (Wellness, Achievement, Values, Enjoyment, Self-Esteem)
LEARN Academy’s® WAVES Behavior Modification Program helps teach students how to increase their independence and take on more responsibility as they transition back to working and learning alongside the world. We believe that change occurs in waves, one step at a time.We start by tackling the first wave and move on, as students move from beginning and understanding the program, to practicing new skills tailored to their needs, and finally transitioning out of the program.
The WAVES Change Plan has four main components:
- Long Term Goal Setting
- Functional Assessment
- Proactive Behavior Support Plan
- Course Completion,Graduation, and Transition Plan
