Family Engagement
Development, Empowerment, and Coaching
LEARN Academy® recognizes that parents and guardians are a student’s first teachers and the connection between home and school is a critical one. Our Family Engagement workshops are designed to help parents become more involved in their child’s education and strengthen the connection between home and school. We offer informational workshops and educational programs which invite families to join in fun activities centered making a positive impact on student achievement.
Examples of Family Engagement Workshops:
LEARN’s Family Engagement workshops help strengthen support systems for students who are at-risk of academic failure, by fostering the connection between parents and school administrators/teachers.
Anti-Bullying Zone
Parents are a huge part of the solution in Bullying Prevention. Our Parent Workshop is interactive, packed with many useful resources for parents. Information regarding the different types of bullying, how to support a child who is being bullied, and awareness in cyber-bullying will be covered.
Family Reading Night
The workshop includes a guest from the local library who will help parents and students complete an application for a public library card. Families will be divided into groups based on grade levels. A book will be read and a related activity completed together.
Explore Your Inner Scientist
The purpose of this workshop is to engage students and parents in a science demonstration and discuss the importance of integrating STEM in school and at home. Each family will participate in a hands-on science experiment.
Math Olympics
Students and parents work through a series of “Olympic Events” which are all related to a specific math concept. This fun and engaging workshop allows families to learn while having a good time.
Study Skills and Test-Taking Strategies
This session is intended to guide and support parents as they focus on the key elements of encouraging and building proper study skills to ensure adequate preparation of their children for quizzes, tests, and exams during the school year.
