Special Education Compliance Review
Compliance Reviews and Unbiased Analysis for Special Education Programs.
Through compliance reviews, LEARN Academy® can help schools and districts better comply with federal and state, and local regulations in serving students with special needs, including students qualifying for Title I. Each compliance review is tailored to align with the specific regulatory requirements a client faces. Our service has been beneficial for schools preparing for special education monitoring though their State Department of Education, allowing schools to obtain findings of noncompliance and make corrections prior to state monitoring. It has also been beneficial for schools looking to improve the efficacy of their programs through an unbiased review and analysis.
Based on an onsite assessment of potential risk areas, our experts will detail immediate, short- and long-term quality improvements to academic and special education programs — insights that schools and districts can use to proactively ensure compliance. Below is the standard compliance review process that has been successful.
The Special Education Compliance Review process:
- Selection of 20% or more of current special education files including initial evaluations, re-evaluations, current Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and applicable notices. The file sample includes files from multiple campuses and teachers, includes a normative sample of qualifying categories of eligibility.
- Special Education file reviews. Dependent upon schools needs and software management system used, the file reviews may occur onsite or virtually.
- Special Education Director, teachers, related service providers and administrator interviews
- Classroom observations to verify implementation of IEP.
- Summary of Findings which will include a written report and presentation
- Recommendations for continued improvement
