Career and Vocational Preparation
Empowering students to discover their passions, develop essential skills, and embark on successful career and vocational journeys.
At LEARN Academy®, we collaborate closely with school districts to provide students with valuable insights into diverse career and vocational pathways. Our mission is to equip young individuals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to make informed decisions about their future.
LEARN Academy® students can learn a variety of vocational skills as part of their Individual Transition Plan (ITP). High school students participate in 90 minutes a week of directed group instruction in career and vocational skills. The instruction targets four crucial focus areas:
Independent Living Skills & Self-Advocacy
Our program equips students with essential life skills, enabling them to live independently. Key areas of focus include fiscal management, budgeting, personal responsibility, self-advocacy, household management, consumer awareness, resource utilization, obtaining vital records, navigating public transportation, bill payment, and understanding and correcting credit reports.
Employment Training & Development
We believe that understanding one’s interests and abilities is crucial. Through self-assessments, counseling, and mentoring, students gain clarity on their strengths and preferences. Our team assists with resume writing, interview preparation, and career planning.
Post-Secondary Education
Students participate in school outings, visit local community colleges and university campuses, and develop skills in researching educational grants and financial aid opportunities (FAFSA).
Technology Readiness
Empowering students to think critically, communicate efficiently, and to adapt to ever evolving digital landscape. Students demonstrate their creativity by constructing knowledge and developing innovative products and processes. Technology provides a canvas for their imagination, allowing the exploration of new ideas and solutions.
Students in our program develop appropriate socialization techniques, team building, cooperative learning, and improve interpersonal relationships. Our goal is to prepare students for the transition out of high school, instilling independence for home life and providing essential skills for work or exploring further education.
