K-12 Program Highlights
Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
In the first week, the team pairs with the student. Once we build rapport, we introduce mastered tasks. We reinforce the student’s success. After that, we conduct assessments to develop unique goals tailored to the student. Within 6 to 8 weeks, each student receives a new IEP with 15 to 20 goals.
ABA-Based Education
LEARN Academy uses research-based programming. Our teaching practices follow the principles of ABA and focus on language development. We include discrete trial teaching (DTT), natural environment teaching (NET), and pivotal response training (PRT).
Integrated Related Services
We incorporate a wide range of related services into our school curriculum. These include behavioral interventions, speech therapy, supplementary reading instruction, activities of daily living, yoga, music therapy, and vocational training.
Behavior Analysts
LEARN Academy has a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA) on-site full-time. Our BCBA provides each student with individualized attention specific to each student’s behavioral and social needs.
Experienced Staff
Our team consists of certified special education teachers, a full-time board certified behavior analyst (BCBA), a full-time speech-language pathologist (SLP), full-time speech-language pathology assistants (SLPAs), registered behavior technicians (RBTs), and many highly qualified teaching assistants.
2:1 Student-to-Staff Ratio
We teach with a 2:1 student-to-staff ratio, plus small and large group instruction. This setup provides individualized attention and helps students learn to apply skills in group settings.
Year-Round Program
Our school schedule maximizes student progress and meets Arizona Department of Education requirements. Classes are held Monday through Friday with planned breaks throughout the year.
High School Vocational Training
This program teaches high school students job tasks and independent living skills. Students practice vocational skills in our workroom, volunteer in the community, participate in weekly outings, and attend job fairs.
